The Covina Massacre

"The Ortega family's annual Christmas Eve party is destroyed when a man dressed as Santa, wielding handguns and a homemade flame-thrower opens fire; detectives are led down a terrifying path that leads them to a sociopath." 

 

Pardo, dressed in a Santa Claus suit, arrived at the residence of his former in-laws armed with four semiautomatic handguns and equipped with a homemade flamethrower. His marriage had recently ended in a contentious divorce, and he harbored intense resentment towards his ex-wife and her family.

 

Upon entering the house, Pardo opened fire on the partygoers, killing nine people and injuring three others. The victims included his ex-wife, her parents, and other family members. Pardo's violent rampage was characterized by chilling precision, as he targeted specific individuals before spraying the room with gunfire.

 

Following the shooting, Pardo unwrapped a package containing a homemade flamethrower and used it to set the house ablaze. He intended to destroy evidence and hamper the investigation. The fire quickly consumed the residence, and Pardo fled the scene.

 

In the aftermath of the massacre, the police launched a manhunt for Pardo, who had sustained third-degree burns during the arson. He was found dead the next day at his brother's residence, having committed suicide by gunshot.
